Troubleshooting

Storage issues

Some devices require the Read external storage permission for the firmware update to work.

The permission can be granted manually on the Android’s app configuration screen or by using the following the adb command:

adb shell pm grant de.proglove.connect android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Note

This permission is only required for the firmware update and can be revoked later.

Known devices with this issue:

  • Unitech WD100

Long-running firmware updates and scanner sleep timer

If an update lasts longer than 5 minutes (e.g. due to Bluetooth speed limitations), scanner versions older than V2.1 may shut down before the update finishes.

To prevent this, you can configure your scanner via the Insight Webportal using configuration Manage profiles to set the sleep mode to at least 15 minutes.

You can also trigger a scan on your scanner during the update before it reaches 5 minutes of idle time.
